You may have seen the good news elsewhere: By popular uprising, our friend bgh has been rehabilitated by the party and is your new manager at Viva El Birdos. He is even now being pasted back into photos of factory tours and committee meetings.
I'm extremely happy for bgh and VEB The Community both. This means we can probably hold off on meticulously recreating Chorus's commenting system in a clean-room environment, but I'm still going to ask You, The Viewer a question as part of what will probably be a monthly Mad Em-Dashes meta-post. (I always wanted to post monthly traffic/status updates on VEB, but when you work for a large company traffic is kind of a trade secret. Since this is an experiment, I figure periodic updates on the results are only fitting.)
Anyway: What do you think would be neat? What, within reason, could make this site easier or more rewarding to use? When I began writing this yesterday morning that question was mostly related to comment systems, but I'm still interested in hearing from you.
I appreciate your being here—traffic, not to mention the subsequent insurrection, has far exceeded my expectations—and I hope you'll come around even now that we can beat our swords back into SB Nation accounts; I've got a lot of cool stuff planned, some of which I might even have enough Ritalin to finish.
Also: I added a tip jar, since a few people asked about it. Please don't feel any obligation, especially now that we don't have to use the money to poach danbjork from Vox, but something has to support my webOS habit. Oh, and my wedding.
Congratulations on beating back a flawed business model, and thanks so much for sticking with me—this last couple of weeks has been a weird experience, and a great one, and I'll never forget it.
